Dallas Mavericks: Ding Yanyuhang scores 14 as China advances to finals

The Dallas Mavericks brought in Ding Yanyuhang for the second time this offseason.  He played for the Mavs in summer league 2017.  Yanyuhang again has the chance to impress and earn a place on their regular season roster.  He has some business to take care of before reporting to Dallas for training camp, though.

Ding Yanyuhang continues to start for the Chinese National Team as they play in the 2018 Asian Games.  The team won all three games heading into their Aug. 30 semifinal matchup against Chinese Taipei.  It figured to be their toughest test yet as they hope to bring home the gold medal.

China rode a dominant third quarter where they outscored their opponents 31-12 to a massive 86-63 victory.

Ding Yanyuhang put together his best all-around game of the competition.  He produced 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.  Yanyuhang was also six of 12 from the field, two of five on 3-pointers, and missed his only free throw attempt.  It was a fantastic performance from both player and the team as they advance in the tournament.

Next game

China’s next game of the competition will be for the gold medal.  They face Iran on Sept. 1 and are once again a heavy favorite to win.  Expect Ding Yanyuhang to start and play a significant role in China’s performance.

Final thoughts

Ding Yanyuhang had his best game of the 2018 Asian Games as China advanced to the finals on Aug. 30.  Yanyuhang’s strong play should only mean positive things for his time with the Dallas Mavericks.  Keep an eye on the Chinese star during training camp to see how he is performing.
