Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic dons his Mavs uniform for first time

Dallas Mavericks prized rookie Luka Doncic put on his Mavs uniform for the first time in his rookie photo shoot meaning the regular season is closing in.

The Dallas Mavericks made a bold move to acquire Luka Doncic.  Dallas traded pick five in the 2018 draft and a 2019 first round selection that is top-five protected for the third choice to secure Doncic.

Mavs fans are excited to see what Doncic can do on the court in their uniform.  That excitement just built a little more as the first pictures of Doncic in a Mavericks uniform appeared on Sunday.  Here is a Tweet from the NBA official account with one of the photos.

The picture comes from Luka Doncic’s rookie photo shoot, so expect more pictures of him in the varying Mavs uniforms to pop up over the next few days.  Number 77 looks fantastic in his new gear.

Excitement building

Doncic will fulfill your excitement this season.  His professional experience and basketball IQ will make him a force on the NBA court.  The 19-year-old is arguably the most experienced rookie to come through the NBA draft.

Expect some crazy passes and alley-oops to be handed out by Doncic this season.  Also, he should score 15 points per game and push to win the Rookie of the Year award.  Be excited for the young man because he can deliver on the basketball court.

Final thoughts

Fans have seen Doncic in his Dallas Mavericks uniform but seeing his first game will have to wait a little while.  The Mavs open training camp on Sept. 21 with media day, but their first preseason game is not until Oct. 5 against the Sixers in China.

Dallas opens the regular season in Phoenix against the Suns on Oct. 17.

The additions of Doncic and DeAndre Jordan should have the Mavs pushing for a playoff spot in the stacked Western Conference.  Dallas needs to get off to a strong start and avoid injuries to send Dirk to the postseason if what could be his final year.  Stay tuned.
