NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Lottery Picks Only

#8: Cleveland Cavaliers
Collin Sexton, Alabama
“I don’t know who the Cavs will want to pick at this point with Trae Young out, but it seems like they would want a bonafide playmaker. Sexton fills that void with his ability to get to the rim effectively and his shot developing well. Even without his three-point shooting being where it needs to be, he still averaged nearly 20 points per game in his freshman year. Sexton would be a great addition or starting block for Cleveland.” –Kohl Rast
Collin Sexton, Alabama
“The Cavaliers’ future is in doubt. It seems more and more likely that Lebron James will leave the team with every passing day, leaving the Cavs with few long term pieces. They should start by drafting their point guard of the future, Collin Sexton. Sexton is an exciting, confident player who has tremendous athleticism and can play above the rim with the best of them.
The Cavaliers need to position themselves to be ready for James’s departure and need to grab a point guard to get the ball rolling immediately on what will be a long, slow rebuild. If James stays, Sexton would still provide a solid two way presence that they are not currently getting from Jordan Clarkson and won’t get for much longer from George Hill.” –Evan Siegel
Miles Bridges, Michigan State
“If the Cavs don’t trade this pick, they’ll be in the same position as the Grizzlies: a playoff team with a chance to add solid, young talent. If LeBron James sticks with Cleveland, Bridges could be a perfect addition to the Cavaliers wing position. Bridges can’t attack off the dribble, but he’s a good spot up shooter. Those tend to do well with LeBron. The Cavs need smart, athletic wings and Bridges fits the mold.” –Ben Zajdel
