#6: Orlando Magic

Trae Young, Oklahoma

“I don’t particularly agree with this pick, but the Magic are in need of a point guard and, if Trae Young becomes what people believe he can, then this is a steal of a pick even at #6. Young proved to be a pretty incredible player this year at Oklahoma, leading the entire NCAA in both points and assists. A lot of people want to believe that he needs to shoot at a high volume to be an effective player, but his passing is very good. Whether he pans out or not, this is a good pick by the Magic.”  –Kohl Rast

Michael Porter Jr., Missouri

“The Magic are still rebuilding, and aren’t that much further along than they were four years ago. Aaron Gordon is a free agent, and the team still has no idea what it has yet in Jonathan Isaac. The Magic need to pull the trigger on Michael Porter Jr. and pair him with Jonathan Isaac.

The Magic would then possess two long forwards who can get up and down the court like deer. Porter’s potential is as high as anybody in this draft and would be in the discussion for the first overall pick if it weren’t for his long-term back injury.” –Evan Siegel

Trae Young, Oklahoma

“I don’t think Trae Young is the next Steph Curry. I think he’s the next D.J. Augustine. That’s not a terrible career to have, but do you want to choose a player like that with the number six pick? I think the Magic will, because they make dumb basketball decisions. I’m sorry if you’re a Magic fan. Or an NBA fan hoping the Magic will possibly one day construct another competitive basketball team just because you’d be interested in seeing Orlando in the playoffs again.” –Ben Zajdel
