Make the Deal, if the Price is Right

“The Dallas Mavericks need more scoring, and Mirotic is just that. Although there are concerns with him off the court, he will be able to play alongside Dirk Nowitzki, who will be able to connect with him better and help him along the way.

That doesn’t always work, but if anyone could help him with any off the court problems, it is probably Dirk. Coach Carlisle is a well-known no nonsense coach but I believe that Mirotic will have the work ethic to make him a relevant piece in Dallas.

I also believe that Mirotic and Dirk would be able to play side by side in the starting lineup. Although Mirotic is by no means an elite defender, I do believe that he has the tools to be good. Coach Carlisle could bring those tools forward better and force him to become a serviceable player on both ends of the court. He would also be able to work with the 2nd unit as either a spot up shooter for JJ to kick to, or a post player.

His offense is obviously the reason to go get him, as he is shooting lights out this season. Adding another scoring weapon could open Dallas up and push them to relevance this season.

The big question of course is, what can we offer? I wouldn’t want to offer too much for him, otherwise it doesn’t make much sense, but if something like Yogi and Noel would work to lure Mirotic from the Bulls, I would take a long look at that offer sheet.

There are risks in every move, but the rewards of Mirotic could easily make him a worthwhile trade target.”

There is a lot of talk surrounding Mirotic and, although it is unlikely that the Mavs will even be in the conversation for him, it would certainly be interesting to find out what it would cost us.
