Roundtable: Most Likely Maverick to…Get a Triple-Double
By Kohl Rast

Dennis Smith Jr.
“Once again, I’m going with Dennis Smith Jr. Back on November 7th, Smith Jr. got close with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. He opened the season with a double-double in assists and points. It might not be a crazy statistical triple double, but I could realistically see a 16/11/10 game from Smith Jr. at some point this season.” –Isaac Harris
“Being an athletic primary ball handler makes Smith Jr. the best candidate to achieve a triple-double. On November 7, Smith Jr. tallied 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists against Washington. It’s only a matter of time.” –Emmanuel Dixon
Dallas Mavericks
“This one was pretty easy for me. Junior is a stat sheet stuffer and his elite athleticism allows him to hold his own on the glass even as a point guard. He may not break Lonzo Ball’s youngest triple double ever record, but I fully expect him to get at least one by the end of the season.” –Sean Bush
“If I recall correctly, Dennis Smith’s 8 assist/rebound game against the Wizards was the closest trip-dub effort this year, so he’s my pick. No one else on the roster really has the dynamic capability to stuff double digits in the stat sheet.” –Paul Wang
“Smith looks like the most complete player on this Mavs team. Points and assists will not be hard to come by for Smith, who has shown a strong ability to both fill it up and share it with teammates. Smith also gets after it on the glass better than most point guards, something the organization has to be encouraged with considering the kind of investment they made in him.” –Evan Siegel
“The most likely Maverick to get a triple double is also Junior. He’s flirted with the line a couple games, and it’s probably gonna happen before too long. He just has to be feeling it on offense one night and play enough minutes to collect boards over a longer period of time.” –Sam Casey
“Another question, another DSJ answer. Smith Jr. has potential triple-double written all over him. Averaging 15-4-5 as a rookie, he’s got a shot at capturing a triple-double any time he steps on the floor. He’s come close twice with lines of 22-8-8 and 21-5-7 so I’d expect one before seasons end.” –Michael Mulford
“Again, I’m going with Dennis Smith Jr. on this one. He’s averaging 14 points a game, so getting at least 10 won’t be any problem, and he averages 4 rebounds and assists per game so I think that we’ll see him get at least one triple-double by the end of the season. He’s improving every game and making smarter decisions about passes and finding the open guy as the season progresses so I think this milestone is right around the corner for him.” –Jasmyn Wimbish
