Dennis Smith Jr.

“Man, remember the days when it was automatic that we had at least one player take part in All-Star Weekend? Well since this category is the entire All-Star Weekend and not just the game, I’m going to have to go with the rook, Dennis Smith Jr.

Since he was drafted, everyone’s been wanting him to enter the dunk contest, and many have already handed him the trophy. I think he’ll answer the call, but I’m not going to lie, there’s a little part of me that hopes he passes it up just for health reasons alone.” –Jasmyn Wimbish

“DSJ without a doubt. He’s an obvious choice to play in the Rising Stars game and is a top candidate to participate in the Slam Dunk contest, which every NBA fan is hoping for.” –Michael Mulford

“The most likely maverick to make it to all-star weekend has to be Dennis Smith Jr., who already is offering a huge number of highlight dunks. There is a real chance he is chosen for the dunk contest. Dark horse picks could be Wes Matthews or if he could get healthy, Seth Curry in the 3 point shootout.” –Sam Casey

“As one of the premiere rookies this season, Dennis Smith Jr. is sure to headline the Rising Stars Challenge during All Star weekend. In fact, Smith Jr. is also well-equipped for the Skills Challenge.” –Emmanuel Dixon

“I’m going with Dennis Smith Jr. in the Dunk Contest. Now I asked Dennis during training camp if he would do the dunk contest if asked and he shot it down saying he is just focused on winning. He would most likely be the favorite to win it also. Last year we had Matthews in the three point contest, but Smith Jr. is our best shot this year.” –Isaac Harris
