After a rough start to the season, the Dallas Mavericks look to start off November with a win against Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers.

As the Mavericks and Clippers prepare for their first meeting of the season, the two seasons sit on polar opposite ends of the NBA spectrum. On one end of the spectrum, the Los Angeles Clippers currently sit atop of the Pacific Division, led by dark-horse MVP candidate Blake Griffin.

In the first six games of the season, Griffin averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Griffin even appears to have developed a three-point shot, which should scare just about anyone guarding him.

Furthermore, on a non-basketball note, Griffin has recently been seen on dates with Kendall Jenner. So, who knows, maybe this is just Blake’s year.

On the other end of the NBA spectrum, the Mavericks sit dead last in both divisional and conference standings. With increasing frustration, many Mavericks’ fans look for a reason not to jump ship after just eight games.

Unfortunately, tonight may not be the night for the Mavericks to try to turn things around. The Clippers will be a matchup nightmare for a relatively small Mavericks lineup. The duo of Griffin and DeAndre Jordan will most likely limit the playing time for Dirk Nowitzki as the “Tall Baller from the G” won’t be able to keep up with the physicality of those two.

Also, tonight should prove to be one of the hardest matchups of the season for a young Nerlens Noel, who has recently met Joel Embiid and Rudy Gobert in the paint.

Then, there is Patrick Beverley, who already has bad blood with one rookie point guard this season. Beverley’s defensive prowess will be Dennis Smith Jr.’s toughest, most physical challenge of the season and Beverley loves to make examples of young hotshots.

Unfortunately, tonight’s game is only the tip of the iceberg for what will be a tough November for the Mavericks. Following tonight’s game, the Mavericks will go up against the best teams in the league, some of those teams they will see twice in the month.
