Kyle Lowry

My long shot pick for this segment is definitely Kyle Lowry and I think the reasons may be obvious. I will still go over them though, so let’s look at the facts.

Lowry has been mentioned in a number of rumors to move to the Western conference ever since the Toronto Raptors got eliminated from the playoffs early, yet again. Lowry is a 31-year old, 3-time All-Star who has been in the league for 11 years so far. He is a smaller point guard but has become a scoring machine in the 2nd half of his career so far.

Lowry put up some career numbers last year with the Raptors averaging 22.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7 assists per game, as well as 1.4 steals and 42.4% field goal percentage. Many of these numbers are career highs for the point guard out of Villanova.

The Mavericks would love to have a guy like Lowry because he is in the prime of his career right now and should be considered a top tier point guard league-wide. Although his size may be a bit of a struggle in the west, his ability to score and create will be things the Mavs have desperately needed at the head of the team.

Kyle Lowry would do well to join the Mavs because he would be able to get out of the tough situation he has been in with Toronto and come over to be a big-time star in Dallas. His skill-set would fit in well with Carlisle’s system and he would be in one of the most stable franchises the west has to offer.

This grouping would not work simply because of money and better opportunity. Frankly, Lowry is going to want to look at championship caliber teams first and Dallas is not quite one of those just yet. He will also be expecting a payday and I’m not talking about caramel covered in peanuts. Dallas would consider giving him a big paycheck but, at 31, it probably wouldn’t be at the top of their to-do list.
