The Dallas Mavericks are expected to bring Nerlens Noel back to the team with a big contract, but every team needs a good backup center. Salah Mejri may be the answer, but if not, here are a few options the Mavs could pursue.

The center position is one with a very black and white history for the Dallas Mavericks. As far back as the beginning of the franchise, the Mavs have been known to have really bad centers, sprinkled in with a few really good ones. With the way things are looking right now, Dallas may have another good one locked in for awhile.

Nerlens Noel will be one of the Mavs top priorities this summer and we expect to be the most likely team to bring him back. When that happens, the Dallas Mavericks will need to decide whether they are going to stick with Salah Mejri as the backup center or not. Personally, I like Mejri and think he is a reasonable backup center for his price tag.

That being said, there is always the possibility that Dallas wants to change things up. After all, Mejri is 30 years old already and only going into his 3rd year in the NBA. Going younger or going more experience are both options the Mavs could pursue.

Normally I would give you more names to consider for Dallas, but the short list of centers available this summer made it extra difficult to find any the Mavs may be interested in. These names may not be the best centers out there, but they are a few that could be considered that would give Dallas a bit of a boost from the bench.

With all of that considered, here is a short list of free agent centers the Dallas Mavericks could choose to pursue this summer.
