The Dallas Mavericks continue their pre-draft workouts by planning to workout Josh Scott from Colorado University.

Since the Mavericks do not own their first round draft pick due to the Rajon Rondo trade a few winter’s ago, Dallas now focuses on their second round pick and potential un-drafted players they can add to their summer league team.

After planning to work out Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell and Louisiana-Lafeyette’s Shawn Long, Dallas now plans to workout big man standout from Colorado Josh Scott. Scott played all four years at Colorado as he totaled over 120 games in his college career.

Scott had a steady increase in all statistical categories over his college career while finishing his senior season averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, and almost 2 blocks a game. Standing at 6’10”, 245 pounds, Scott gave Colorado a presence in the middle that many teams had trouble matching up with.

When asked by the Denver Post over the weekend about a player he is compared to the most, Scott spit out one of the best power forwards to ever play the game.

“A lot of people around me call me ‘Baby Tim Duncan’…I will never compare myself to him, he’s an all-time great, but I hear that comparison a lot.”

The comparison comes up mainly because of Scott’s niftiness on the court while lacking the elite athleticism that many big men have at his position.

For the Mavericks, Scott could come in and compete for some backup four minutes behind Dirk Nowitzki. With Dwight Powell entering free agency, it leaves just Jeremy Evans on the roster behind Dirk at the power forward spot. Scott could compete during summer league and training camp for one of the last roster spots.
