How things can change so fast.  After a game where the Dallas Mavericks(2-1) found themselves down 38-22 to the Houston Rockets, they came out hot as the offense was fluid that led to multiple Maverick dunks in the period. The defense lead by Shawn Marion defending Mike Conley Jr was at its finest during the first period where the Mavericks gave up only 16 points, as they took a 32-16 lead against the Memphis Grizzlies (1-2).

Shawn Marion wouldn’t end there as he was a factor throughout the whole game as he tallied season highs of 21pts, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists.

After the hot first quarter and having Samuel Dalembert (10pts) and Jose Calderon (13pts) toptheir total scoring outputs of the season during the first half alone, the offense would begin to struggle as the Grizzlies would go on a run to cut the deficit 48-43 at the half.  Zach Randolph lead the grizzlies with 10pts and 9 rebounds at the half.

After a quiet first half of only 2 points and zero assists, Monta Ellis was able to lead the Mavericks during the 3rd period that was highlighted by a full-court pass steal that lead to a dunk for himself. Ellis had 7pts during the quarter and multiple steals and deflections. Memphis was able to keep it close throughout because of their offensive rebounding but after a DeJuan Blair tip-in and a Vince Carter and-1 circus runner, the Mavericks were able to end the half with a 73-63 lead.

Just as the 3rd quarter was led by Ellis, so was the 4th.  Time after time Ellis was able to create easy opportunities for his teammates, hi-lighted by an easy layup he created for Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavericks lead would stay around the 9-12pt range as teams were trading baskets for the duration of the period.

Ellis finished the game with 18pts, 3 steals, and his 2 assists are misleading as he was able to find teammates for easy looks who either got fouled or missed the shot.

Dirk lead six double figure scorers with 24pts to go along with his season high 6 rebounds, Dalembert finished with season highs of 14pts and 9 rebounds, Carter added 11pts off the bench, Calderon finished with 15pts and 5 assists.

The Mavericks shot only 40% from the field, but were able to get to the free throw line 46 times as they made 40 of them.

Zach Randolph finished with 21pts and 14 rebounds, Marc Gasol had 23pts but had only 5 rebounds, and Conley Jr finished with 24pts and 8 assists.

The Mavericks are off till Tuesday where they;ll play at home verse the Los Angeles Lakers(1-2).
