With training camp just a few days away, the NBA news is going to start to ramp up.

Players will be signing last-minute contracts to join team's training camp rosters, and fans will get to see rookies officially take the floor for the first time shortly after as the NBA preseason starts on October 5.

There is plenty of excitement going on in the NBA world, and fans could see a particular shooter from the Eastern Conference get traded soon.

Mavericks labeled as trade destination that 'makes sense' for elite shooter

On September 20, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Indiana Pacers and Buddy Hield are searching for a trade partner (subscription required) after Hield's contract extension talks stalled.

Hield is on the final year of his 4-year, $94 million contract, and a contender would benefit tremendously from his elite shooting. Over his seven years in the NBA, Hield averages 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 40.2 percent from downtown.

He is also No. 29 on the NBA's all-time 3-pointers made list. Hield would be a perfect fit on the Dallas Mavericks playing next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but does it make sense for the Mavs to make this move?

HoopsHype writer Yossi Gozlan thinks so.

He put out an article breaking down six different teams that it would make sense for them to trade for Hield and listed Dallas as one of them. He listed Dallas because of Dallas' need to capitalize on maximizing their roster around Doncic. Dallas has to do whatever they can to keep Doncic happy to keep him in Dallas as long as possible, and one way they could do that is by bringing in Hield.

He is an extremely valuable shooter who would be a perfect fit off Dallas' bench, and Dallas should consider making a move for him. He is one of the best shooters off the catch in the NBA, and would get the most open shots of his career.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is also a player who has been in trade rumors this summer, and the Mavs could put together a package centered around him along with other assets to try to pry Hield away from the Pacers. Hield often spends part of the offseason in Dallas, and a trade to the Mavs would likely delight both parties involved. The Mavs have reportedly shown interest in Hield, but it looks likely that a trade for Hield won't happen before the season.

The Mavs begin training camp on September 27, and we'll have you covered with all the latest so stay tuned.
