Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving had been dealing with a groin injury. Irving played 14 minutes in the first preseason game in Abu Dhabi, but he missed the next two as he continued to deal with groin soreness.

However, Dallas head coach Jason Kidd gave a promising update on Irving's status. The star guard participated fully in practice yesterday, and Kidd said they'll continue to take it day by day.

Later in the interview, Kidd discussed the extent of Doncic's calf injury and how it's affecting him prior to the season opener on Wednesday, October 25.

Although the injury bug has now bitten Doncic, the news of Irving's return to practice is encouraging. It's certainly looking like Irving could play in the Mavs' last preseason game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

If he's held out, it will likely be a precautionary measure in preparation for the regular season opener. Having a healthy Doncic and Irving will be the key to success for the upcoming season.

A season ago, the star duo only appeared in 16 out of 27 contests. The lack of court time shared between the two superstars has concerned numerous analysts. Despite going all in for Irving, many are still skeptical of the Mavs playoff chances.

The skeptics may have a good reason for disbelief. Irving only suits up for about 56 games per season. Although not always due to injury, Irving has missed time due to various off-court issues.

Nevertheless, Irving is a superstar and has consistently demonstrated the ability to compete at the highest level. Irving is an 8-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion. No matter the setting, he's succeeded at the highest level.

The only hope for Dallas is that both All-Stars will share the court on opening night. Stay tuned as we'll continue to have you covered on Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, and the rest of the Mavericks' roster.
