One of the Dallas Mavericks' biggest moves of the offseason happened on July 5 when Dallas traded for Grant Williams.

Dallas had rumored interest in him earlier in the offseason, and they made sure to get their guy by acquiring him through a three-team sign-and-trade.

Williams was a restricted free agent, and rather than risking Boston matching his contract, they traded for him.

In this trade, Dallas sent Reggie Bullock and a first-round pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs. Dallas also acquired two second-round picks.

This trade will likely be worth it in the long run, as Dallas desperately needed a dependable wing defender with size, but losing Bullock could be a bigger loss than most people realize.

Bullock was Dallas' starting wing for most of last season and was key to their playoff success in 2022. He was playing over 39 minutes per game, averaged 10.6 points per game, and shot 39.7 percent from three.

He had a massive role for Dallas and oftentimes took the toughest guard defensive assignment.

And now he's a free agent.

According to a report by The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Spurs, and Bullock have reached a contract buyout, making him a free agent. Charania also reported that a number of playoff teams will pursue him.

Bullock can be a key piece for a playoff team as a 3-and-D wing and likely won't be on the open market long. Teams always need 3-and-D wings, and Bullock has proved that he can perform at a high level down the stretch and in the playoffs.

We'll have you covered with all the latest news on the Dallas Mavericks this season, so stay tuned.
