Dallas Mavericks' most valuable trade assets: 1. Luka Doncic
Luka may be the most valuable trade asset in the NBA. The 23-year-old superstar is untouchable and it would be impossible to get back fair value in return for dealing him. Doncic is on pace to go down as an all-time great. He has already made first-team All-NBA three times, and he is unquestionably one of the top five players in the world before reaching his peak.
Luka keeps adding to his game. Teams know he wants to get to drive right and get to his left step back. There are no secrets, but Doncic is still impossible to stop. His size and deceleration make it impossible to contain him when he drives to the basket. Luka can shoot from anywhere on the court, and he has seen every defense. Teams struggle to slow him down much less stop him.
Number 77 enters the season in peak form after a long summer of basketball with the Slovenian National Team. Could this be the year that he wins his first NBA MVP honors? Doncic is the favorite going in, but he will need to produce monster numbers and lift the Mavericks back into the top four in the West to have a shot at winning the award.
The Dallas Mavericks have no desire to trade Luka Doncic, but if they did, the organization would get a historic haul, and it still would not be enough. The 23-year-old already has a Hall of Fame resume, and he just keeps improving.
Will the Dallas Mavericks pull off a trade this season? Stay tuned to find out.
