Texas Legends storyline for Mavericks fans to follow: 3. What is Justin Jackson's role?
Fans do not see many players that win an NBA championship ring end up in a G League camp the next season. Many Mavs supporters were shocked to see Justin Jackson get picked up by the Mavericks and sent down to the Legends.
The Mavs traded Harrison Barnes to the Sacramento Kings to acquire Jackson back in 2019, where he spent the next year and a half as a bench option for former coach Rick Carlisle in Dallas.
Jackson started with the Thunder last season before being waived and signing a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in April. He played in five playoff games and earned a ring in 2021.
Jackson has played for four different NBA teams since being drafted in 2017, so it is kind of confusing why the Mavs brought him back only to send him down to the G League. This could be the final chance for the 26-year-old to prove he is an NBA rotation player.
How will the Texas Legends use Justin Jackson if he were to make the final roster? Will he be the first player called up to the Mavericks if there is an injury or used as a mentor to the younger players down in Frisco? This is an interesting storyline that Dallas Mavericks fans should keep an eye on.
