Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks preseason opener vs. Jazz: 1. Luka’s in for a massive year
Luka Doncic only played in the first half of the preseason opener, but that did not stop the Mavs superstar from putting on an absolute show. He finished with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 16 minutes of action while shooting eight of ten from the field. That stat line was impressive but did not do the performance justice.
Luka was making highlights left and right at the American Airlines Center. Here are three beautiful plays from the 22-year-old superstar that might not even feature his top moment of the night.
Doncic was aggressive and had his full arsenal on display. He made multiple beautiful mid-range jumpers, and the 6’7 guard capped his performance with this gem.
It was just the first preseason game, but Luka did play off the ball a decent amount. New head coach Jason Kidd has talked about getting Doncic to trust his teammates more and trying to keep him fresh late in games, so it will be interesting to see how that translates this season. Fans can be sure that Luka is in fantastic shape and is ready for a monster year.
It was just the Dallas Mavericks' first preseason game, so do not overreact. It was a fun start, and the team will be back in action on Friday as they host the rival LA Clippers. Be sure to tune in and enjoy the game.
