Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks preseason opener vs. Jazz: 3. Moses makes impact
Moses Brown started the game, but only saw five minutes in the first half. In that short time, he had five points and three rebounds as his energy and activity immediately popped. The 21-year-old is going to compete hard on both ends of the floor. He was two of three from the field and one of three on the foul line.
Brown had some nice chemistry with Luka Doncic too as the Mavericks superstar found the young center on this alley-oop just over three minutes into the game.
Brown did not return until the fourth quarter when the young players were all on the floor. Things did not go as well, in part because the Mavs did not have a player that could set him up on offense. Still, Brown finished with six points and six rebounds in 14 minutes of action in the win over the Jazz.
The Mavericks have raved about Moses Brown since he came to Dallas. He is working with Mavs legend Tyson Chandler and has improved tremendously, but the 21-year-old is still raw and faces an uphill battle for playing time this season. Brown’s size and energy could make a massive impact mid-season if he continues to improve, so keep an eye on the 7’2 big man.
