Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks preseason opener vs. Jazz: 5. Boban

Boban Marjanovic did not enter the game until the third quarter, but the 7’4 big man wasted little time in making an impact. He had 14 points in nine minutes against the short-handed Jazz, and Bobi did it all over the floor. The Mavericks outscored the Jazz by 17 points when Marjanovic was in the game as he went five of seven from the field, including sinking these two triples.

Marjanovic has clearly been working on his shot. He is just nine of 35 from 3-point range in regular-season games in his NBA career, but Boban had hit locked in on Wednesday night. It will be interesting to see if he ventures out beyond the 3-point line more this season. Fans know Bobi dominates inside, so expect more of that when the games count.

The takeaway is that Boban Marjanovic can make a massive impact when his number gets called. How much will new head coach Jason Kidd use the 7’4 big man this season? He appears to be the Mavericks' third-string center right now, but there will be opportunities to throw Bobi into the game. Expect him to help the Mavericks whenever he gets on the floor.
