Dallas Mavericks dud from home win over Celtics: 1. Tim Hardaway Jr.
It was a rough night for Tim Hardaway Jr. on Nov. 6 as he finished with just seven points. The 6’5 wing shot three of eight from the field, and he missed all four of his 3-point attempts in his 35 minutes of action. Others stepped up as the Mavericks picked up the win, but Dallas needs more scoring from THJ.
Hardaway Jr. did produce three assists against the Celtics. He has been given more ball-handling duties in head coach Jason Kidd’s system, and it has been positive to see his assists numbers creeping up ever so slightly this season. The Mavericks need ball-handlers and playmakers to take the pressure off Luka Doncic, and Hardaway Jr. is going to be a key piece of that mix.
There is no takeaway from Tim Hardaway’s off night. He has struggled with his shot in the early going, but fans know it does not take Timmy long to heat up.
Expect him to bounce back on Monday night as the Dallas Mavericks host the Pelicans at the American Airlines Center. Do not be surprised to see the coaching staff draw up a play to get Hardaway Jr. an open shot in the early going on Nov. 8.
