The Dallas Mavericks entered Saturday’s game against the Boston Celtics looking for their second straight victory, and they got a boost before tipoff with the return of Kristaps Porzingis. The Unicorn had missed five straight backs with a back injury.
Superstar Luka Doncic stole the show on Nov. 6. He got the Mavs off to a fast start as they scored the first six points and 11 of the opening 13. Dallas had their defense on point too as Boston scored just 15 points in the first 12 minutes to put the Mavericks up by 14 after one quarter.
It was 17 at halftime, but the Celtics fought back with an impressive run in the third quarter sparked by Jayson Tatum to get right back in the game. The Mavs battled the entire second half and it took a Luka game-winning buzzer-beater to earn their sixth victory of the season. Who else stood out?
2 studs and 1 dud from the Dallas Mavericks home win over the Celtics
Brunson moved back to the bench with Kristaps Porzingis returning to the lineup, but that did not slow him down. He had 13 first-half points in another impressive performance. JB played 35 minutes and was part of the Mavericks closing lineup as he finished with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal versus the Celtics.
The Mavs shooting struggles continued, but Dorian Finney-Smith did hit three 3-pointers to break him from his slump. Hopefully, that is a positive sign of things to come for the veteran wing.
