Dallas Mavericks dud in home opening win over Rockets: 1. Kristaps Porzingis
It was a rough night for KP in the home opener. He struggled mightily before missing the remainder of the game with a back injury. Porzingis was just two of ten from the field in his 20 minutes of action, but he did have nine points, three rebounds, and one assist.
The Rockets outscored the Mavericks by four points when KP was on the floor. It was an off night for the Unicorn, and the back injury likely played a factor in that. Hopefully, his injury is not serious, and Porzingis back in action on Thursday night when the Mavs host the San Antonio Spurs.
The injury was doubly disappointing for KP because he had looked so healthy coming into Tuesday's game. Fans saw his lateral mobility return after a rough season where he was still recovering from meniscus surgery.
The Dallas Mavericks need Kristaps Porzingis healthy and protecting the rim if they are going to make a significant defensive improvement. Fans will be watching his status closely in the days ahead. Hopefully, he is not forced to miss more time and has a massive night against the Spurs. Stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest.
