Dallas Mavericks dud in third win of season over Spurs: 1. Tim Hardaway Jr.
It was a fantastic overall performance for the Mavs, but Hardaway Jr. did not play his best game. The team’s defense was strong, and he certainly contributed there, but THJ could not find his shot on Nov. 12. He missed all five of his 3-point attempts and shot just two of 11 from the field overall in San Antonio as Hardaway Jr. had just five points in his 27 minutes of action.
The 6’5 wing did chip in six rebounds and two assists, but Dallas was outscored by 13 points in his 31 minutes of action on Nov. 12. THJ had the worst plus-minus on the team in an off night for the sharpshooter.
Fans should not at all be worried about Tim Hardaway Jr. after Friday’s performance. He was coming off two straight strong games before producing a dud in San Antonio. Players who rely heavily on outside shooting are prone to off nights, and THJ had one of his on Nov. 12.
Expect the Dallas Mavericks to run a few early plays in Monday’s game against the Denver Nuggets for Hardaway Jr. It does not take much to get him rolling, and he remains a key scorer and shot creator for Dallas.
