Dallas Mavericks stud in third win of season over Spurs: 3. Dorian Finney-Smith
It was a rough start to the season for Doe-Doe as he was shooting just 34.1 percent from the field and 25.9 percent on his threes coming into Friday’s game. Teams were cheating off him to prevent Luka Doncic from scoring inside, and the 6’7 wing was not taking advantage.
That changed on Nov. 12 as Finney-Smith finally knocked down those open looks. He finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block in 34 minutes of action. Doe-Doe was six of ten from the field, including hitting three 3-pointers in San Antonio. It was a career first for Finney-Smith as he put more than 15 and five with three swipes.
Dorian Finney-Smith made a significant impact on both ends of the floor in the team’s win over the Spurs on Nov. 12 in his best game of the season.
The Mavs need Doe-Doe to hit those open looks if they are going to return to having an elite offense. Hopefully, Friday’s contest in San Antonio was a slump buster and gets him back on track. Finney-Smith is the team’s best perimeter defender, but his offensive contributions are key too. His shooting will be something to keep a close eye on moving forward.
