The Dallas Mavericks were 16-18 after a loss to the Kings on Dec. 29 and looked headed towards a disappointing first season under head coach Jason Kidd. They were dealing with a COVID outbreak and injuries after Luka Doncic did not report to training camp at the top of his game, but the replacement players brought some energy and helped the Mavs find their way.

Dallas is 19-6 since, including winning six of their last seven games before the All-Star break. Doncic is putting up MVP numbers as the Mavericks look like a top ten unit on both ends of the floor. No team wanted to face them heading into the break, but can they keep it up?

Luka and company face a difficult six-game stretch to kick things off as they look to continue climbing the standings. What should fans be watching for down the stretch?

The Mavs traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Wizards at the deadline for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans in a shocking deal. It was a clear signal that Dallas no longer believed in KP as their second star, but does Luka have enough firepower around him to win in the playoffs?

Fans should also be watching Tim Hardaway’s recovery closely. He had foot surgery in early February, and the team is hoping he can return for the postseason.

There are plenty of storylines to watch down the stretch, and here are five massive ones that Dallas Mavericks fans will want to monitor.
