Dallas Mavericks who look ready for regular season: 1. Kristaps Porzingis
It was clear on media day that Kristaps Porzingis entered the 2021-2022 season excited and rejuvenated. The coaching change offered a fresh role and start that the Unicorn is taking full advantage of thus far. He is playing with energy and confidence that MFFL’s have not seen from the Unicorn.
Coach Kidd has KP in a more comfortable spot that offers additional freedom. Fans will not just see him spotting up this season, and Porzingis has stated on several occasions that he is excited to showcase his entire game.
The Unicorn never looked healthy last season after missing the first nine games recovering from offseason meniscus surgery, but that is in the past. He is moving well, blocking shots, and dominating on both ends of the floor, which the Mavs need if they are going to take another step forward.
Porzingis averaged 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game over three preseason contests while shooting 58.3 percent from the field. Jason Kidd has talked about helping him become an All-Star again, and the early returns suggest that could be in store for Kristaps Porzingis this season. The Unicorn is ready for a monster year.
