Ranking Dallas Mavericks from least to most untouchable: 1. Luka Doncic

The other 29 teams can call every single day and offer their entire rosters, but it won’t matter. The Mavs are not trading Luka for anything. He is the top young star in the league to build a team around. No player can match his combination of youth and skill.

Doncic agreed to a five-year $200-plus million extension over the summer that kicks in next season. He has a player option in 2026, but that is the earliest he can hit free agency. The Mavericks want to build a title contender around the 22-year-old and plan on solving that puzzle. They have multiple years to make it work, but now is the time to get started.

Luka is going to continue improving, and he is already on pace to go down as one of the all-time greats. The Dallas Mavericks do not plan on trading that type of talent away under any circumstances.

Can they help him win a championship? That is the question fans will be watching closely this season. If Doncic’s supporting cast is not good enough in the playoffs again, what does the team do to fix it?

It is going to be a special season for the Mavs, so be sure to enjoy the games.
