The Dallas Mavericks dominated the second half to defeat the Denver Nuggets 111-101 on Nov. 15. Kristaps Porzingis had 29 points in the first three quarters before Luka Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr. got hot in the fourth to bring it home for Dallas.

The Mavericks are 9-4 after the win and sit in third place in the Western Conference. Fans were panicked after Dallas was blown out multiple times early in the season, but the team looks to finally be clicking. They have won five of their last six games, including back-to-back impressive wins over the Spurs and the Nuggets.

Luka did suffer an ankle injury in the final minute on Monday night. Head coach Jason Kidd said he went to the locker room under his own power, but the 22-year-old superstar did not talk to the media after the win. Fans will be watching his status closely leading into Wednesday’s game in Phoenix.

Coach Kidd is settling into his preferred rotation as he keeps using more lineups featuring Kristaps Porzingis at the five. The Mavericks have not made the change to the starting lineup yet, but they are maximizing the floor space with shooters as the game goes on. Dwight Powell, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Boban Marjanovic played a combined 24 minutes against the Nuggets and some of those were as the lone big man on the floor.

Let us take a closer look at three plays from the Dallas Mavericks win over the Denver Nuggets that need more examining.
