Dallas Mavericks player most likely to be traded at 2022 deadline: 2. Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Mavs are looking to move Hardaway Jr. after signing him to a four-year deal worth $75 million in the offseason. Dealing him allows Dallas to re-sign both Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith without going into the luxury tax. JB and Doe-Doe passed THJ in the pecking order for minutes this season, and appear to better fit in coach Kidd’s system.

Hardaway’s market was limited by his poor performance and hefty contract but dropped further after breaking a bone in his foot that caused him to have surgery. The 6’5 wing is likely to miss the rest of the regular season but should make a full recovery.

If Dallas can pull off a blockbuster move, Tim Hardaway Jr. will need to be included for salary matching purposes. He has more trade value than Kristaps Porzingis as a rebuilding team would likely look to move on from either player if they acquired them in a deal.

Fans should not expect Tim Hardaway Jr. to get traded before the Feb. 10 deadline. It is more likely that the Dallas Mavericks stand pat or trade for a rotation piece using their exception, but THJ would be included if they acquire a high salary player before the buzzer sounds on Thursday afternoon.
