Players Dallas Mavericks need to trade away before deadline: 1. Tim Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway Jr. signed a four-year $75 million extension in the offseason after two years of excelling in former head coach Rick Carlisle’s system. He improved his efficiency and became a dangerous catch and shoot option playing next to superstar Luka Doncic.

THJ has struggled mightily under head coach Jason Kidd. He is shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 33.4 percent from 3-point range. Hardaway Jr. went from unquestioned starter to begin the season to the sixth man and his playing time decreased as Jalen Brunson has taken a step forward.

Since his stint in the health and safety protocols, THJ is averaging 13.5 points on 40.5 percent shooting from the field and playing 26.3 minutes per over the last 11 contests.

Can the Mavs find a team willing to take on Hardaway’s contract? Rumors suggest there are no suitors, but it only takes one to emerge looking for some instant offense and an elite shooter. THJ struggles on the defensive end of the floor, which could limit his market.
