Pass or pursue on Dallas Mavericks trade idea: 1. Mavs acquire Sabonis
The Pacers have reportedly put Domantas Sabonis on the market, and they are discussing all possibilities. The 25-year-old two-time All-Star is just the type of player Dallas is hungry to acquire and Yahoo Sports offered up this hypothetical deal.
This is the type of move the Mavs should be looking to make if they want to contend for a championship. Sabonis is just entering his prime and already an All-Star. He can be the team’s secondary scorer and playmaker, while also providing elite rebounding and stout defense.
Fans may question the fit between Sabonis and Kristaps Porzingis, but the Mavericks need more talent. They cannot worry about fit at this point. Just adding a difference-maker and ceiling raiser is massive for Dallas.
The Dallas Mavericks should be asking about Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis because either player would solve their center woes. Trading for a 25-year-old All-Star does not happen often, so expect multiple teams to jump at the chance to acquire the current Pacers big man.
Will the Mavs make a game-changing trade before the Feb. 10 deadline? Nobody knows what to expect with first-year general manager Nico Harrison leading the charge. Expect Dallas to be aggressive, and stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest rumors.
