Change to Dallas Mavericks offense under Jason Kidd: 1. Movement

The Mavs are moving more without the ball under coach Kidd, which includes cutting and screening to try to create open looks. Bobby Karalla did a fantastic job of breaking down how the Mavericks incorporated it during the first preseason game on the team’s Twitch channel.

Dallas took advantage during the second preseason game as well. Here Luka Doncic draws a crowd, and Dwight Powell cuts on the backside for an alley-oop.

The Mavs cut on just 5.5 possessions per game last season, which ranked 29th in the NBA. Fans have seen big men get easy dunks off those in each of the first two preseason games, and it appears to be a key change for the team under coach Kidd.

Dallas is not going to be the Warriors flying around screens and creating chaos, but they are going to be more active off the ball in hopes of generating some easy buckets as new head coach Jason Kidd wants the Dallas Mavericks taking advantage of open looks from anywhere on the floor.
