Ranking mismatches for Luka Doncic and the Mavericks to hunt vs. Suns: 5. CP3

Phoenix does not want Chris Paul guarding Luka for one second in this series. The six-foot point guard is too small and too important on the offensive end of the floor to be defending number 77. Paul has the basketball IQ and toughness to hold his own. He will strip Luka when Doncic tries to post him up at some point in this series.

CP3 will match up against Dorian Finney-Smith or Reggie Bullock as the Suns try to conserve his energy for the offensive end of the floor.

The 36-year-old averaged 22.3 points, 11.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game on 56.7 percent shooting from the field in their first-round series against the Pelicans. He is playing some of the best basketball of his career, but guarding Luka is not the ideal matchup for Monty Williams and the Suns.

Ranking mismatches for Luka Doncic and the Mavericks to hunt vs. Suns: 4. Booker

Devin Booker is not a bad matchup for the Suns, but he is recovering from a hamstring strain. The 6’5 wing did not look 100 percent, despite playing in Game 6 against the Pelicans. The 25-year-old is the Suns' leading scorer and an MVP candidate. They do not want him guarding Luka for fear of foul trouble.

Booker will likely take Reggie Bullock or Spencer Dinwiddie, and his health is one of the more important aspects of this series. Phoenix is a difficult team to beat when firing on all cylinders, but if Booker can only score ten to 15 per game, the Suns could have some issues on the offensive end of the floor.
