Luka Doncic is the only player that should be off-limits in Dallas Mavericks trade talks

In the past, Dallas has overvalued their current talent, and it has hindered them from improving their roster. Luka Doncic should be the only Mavericks player off-limits in trade talks this offseason. Dallas should be searching for ways to upgrade the talent on their roster, and if that means moving any other player, the Mavs should make it happen.

Yes, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, and Dwight Powell are success stories for the franchise. They helped Brunson go from second-round pick to starter on a playoff team. Dorian Finney-Smith transformed himself from undrafted free agent to a 3-and-D wing every team covets. Kleber and Powell were overlooked talents that became key role players in Dallas, but the Mavericks should be willing to move them in the right deal.

Expect Nico Harrison and the remade front office to explore every avenue in acquiring a second star. If it costs them Brunson, Finney-Smith, and other pieces, the Mavs need to pay the freight because it means keeping Luka. Doncic wants to win, and he will not wait forever for Dallas to get a championship-caliber roster around him.

The Dallas Mavericks should be willing to deal any player in the right deal, but they need to be more careful with their first-round draft picks.
