Jason Kidd has the Dallas Mavericks looking like title contenders
Luka Doncic has made the Mavs a dangerous playoff opponent, but Dallas never felt like a true title contender over the last three years until now. Kidd has diversified the Mavericks attack on the offensive end of the floor to go with their improvements in chemistry and defense. Luka does not have to bring the ball up the floor every time, and Kidd added a few wrinkles to get his superstar some easy looks.
The Mavs still feature a pick-and-roll heavy offense, but they have found ways to get Doncic coming off screens and receiving the ball going downhill. It makes it difficult to stop him from getting into the paint and creating open looks.
The addition of Spencer Dinwiddie in the Kristaps Porzingis trade has added some new wrinkles to their offense. The 6’5 guard has the ability to attack off the dribble with speed, and that has opened things up. He can play on or off the ball and has already nailed two game-winning 3-pointers.
Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has exceeded all expectations, and no team wants to face them in the playoffs. They are likely to be favored to win their first-round series. Can Kidd help them make their first postseason run since winning the title with Hall of Famer at point guard back in 2011? Stay tuned to find out.
