Head coach Jason Kidd has improved the Dallas Mavericks' chemistry

The Mavs were in disarray (subscription required) at the end of the 2020-2021 season, and the franchise’s decision-making underwent a massive overhaul for the first time in over two decades. Both Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle were out with Jason Kidd taking over as head coach, and Nico Harrison joining as the front office’s top decision-maker.

The team’s chemistry was at an all-time low after their second straight first-round playoff exit. Kristaps Porzingis was frustrated with his role in the playoffs, and players were not on the same page. Kidd recognized things needed to change and made it an emphasis from day one.

Fans can see the Dallas Mavericks improved chemistry on a daily basis. Their bench is one of the most active in the league at trying to force misses. Players have bought into their roles, and they want to win as a team. Nobody is worried about their numbers or getting more shots up. J-Kidd has the Mavericks playing together and focused on playing hard to win games.

Jason Kidd’s emphasis on chemistry and accountability has transferred over to their on-court play with the team making a massive defensive improvement this season.
