Team that will pursue Dallas Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson in free agency: 5. Clippers
The LA Clippers are floundering in the play-in race, but plan on contending for a championship next season with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George back on the floor. They traded for Norman Powell, and fans have seen that LA will go small and switch everything in the playoffs.
The Clippers are still searching for a true point guard. Reggie Jackson is under contract for $11.2 million next season, but he is the team’s only lead guard. Kawhi and PG will handle the ball plenty, but getting another playmaker is the top priority for LA in the offseason.
The Clippers will not have cap space to sign Brunson, but they could pull off a sign-and-trade with the Mavericks. JB will be one of the top available point guards on the market, and any team searching for backcourt help will have interest.
Jalen Brunson can play on or off the ball, and he fits in nearly any lineup. The 25-year-old would be the perfect fit for a healthy LA Clippers squad because he is not going to monopolize the ball, and he competes hard on both ends of the floor. It will be difficult for the Clippers to land JB but expect them to have plenty of interest.
