Dallas Mavericks player who might not finish season with team: 2. Tyrell Terry

Tyrell Terry got a chance to shine in the Las Vegas Summer League. He was the only Mavs draft pick on the roster after the organization decided to sit Josh Green following his Olympic bronze medal run with Australia. The 20-year-old did average 16.0 points per game, but he failed to impress and was limited to just two contests because of a hamstring injury.

Dallas drafted Terry 31st overall in 2020 and gave him a four-year deal worth $6.5 million. They believed in his talent and were intrigued by his shot-making ability. So far, the undersized guard has failed to prove that he can translate it to the NBA level.

A different front office draft Terry too. New general manager Nico Harrison could have different thoughts on the 20-year-old’s role and ceiling moving forward.

If the Dallas Mavericks sign Goran Dragic and have to waive a player, Tyrell Terry is the most likely to be let go. Yes, he has plenty of potential, but it has not translated even playing against talents of a similar age and development level in the summer league. The 6’2 guard needs to stand out during training camp or his days in Dallas could be numbered.
