The Dallas Mavericks had two players competing in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. Luka Doncic made headlines for his incredible run with Slovenia, which featured multiple record-breaking performances, but it was Mavs teammate Josh Green that got the last laugh as Australia topped Slovenia in the bronze medal game.

Green is hoping to use his experience in Tokyo to earn a consistent role with the Mavs in his second NBA season. The 2020 first-round pick played just 445 total minutes as a rookie. He showed flashes of his potential, but could never nail down a nightly place in the rotation.

After practice on Monday, the Mavericks celebrated Josh Green on his incredible accomplishment in Tokyo. Here is a closer look at the event.

The celebration was a surprise and it caught Green off guard. Fans can see a few photos from the event below.

Fans are having fun with the first photo that features Jalen Brunson peering over the giant picture of Green dunking. The Mavs had a blast on Monday afternoon, and jersey sponsor Chime donated $2,500 to the Dallas Boys and Girls Club in Green's name. It was a fun event for team employees to celebrate Green’s accomplishment.

The Mavericks had multiple ties to the Olympics this summer. They signed Frank Ntilikina this offseason after he helped France win the silver medal and defeat Luka Doncic and Slovenia in the semifinals. Mavs trainer Dionne Calhoun also worked with Team USA, who won the gold medal.

Head coach Jason Kidd is no stranger to the Olympic experiences as he helped Team USA win in 2000 and 2008. The Hall of Fame point guard is a winner, and the Mavericks are happy to have him back in Dallas. He helped Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton develop in Milwaukee, and the organization is hoping he can get the best out of the team’s young talent like Josh Green.

Fans should be watching Green closely this season. Can he take another step forward and crack the Dallas Mavericks rotation? Stay tuned to find out.
