The Dallas Mavericks want to be championship contenders behind Luka Doncic this season. The 22-year-old superstar has been phenomenal, but Dallas has been knocked in the first round of the playoffs for two straight years. They are looking to get over the hump and bring a second title to Dallas.

Doncic needs more from his teammates if the Mavs are going to make a deep playoff run. New head coach Jason Kidd is hoping to impart his wisdom and teach Luka to trust his teammates. The 22-year-old can do it all and striking that balance is key. It will be interesting to see what impact coach Kidd has on Doncic and the Mavericks this season.

The team’s roster is a mix of established veterans and young players still looking to prove themselves. A few players are just hoping to show they can stick in the NBA this season. Here is a closer look at who.

3 Dallas Mavericks want to prove they belong this season

The Mavs currently have seven players on their 17-man roster under the age of 25, but nobody is doubting Luka Doncic. Eugene Omoruyi and JaQuori McLaughlin are on two-way contracts and will need to showcase their talents with the Texas Legends to even earn a shot at minutes in Dallas.

The Mavericks acquired Moses Brown in the Josh Richardson trade this summer. The 21-year-old earned consistent minutes with the Thunder last season and had some monster performances. He proved he belongs in the NBA and still has plenty of room to grow.

Here are three other Dallas Mavericks players that are hoping to do just that in the 2021-2022 season.
