Ranking mismatches for Luka Doncic and Mavericks to hunt vs. Warriors: 9. Otto Porter Jr.
Porter’s health is a question mark in this series after he missed the closeout game against the Memphis Grizzlies with a foot injury. The 6’8 forward is not listed on the injury report ahead of Game 1, but the Warriors will not want him guarding Luka at less than 100 percent.
Assuming Porter Jr. is healthy and available, he presents another challenge for Doncic. The Warriors forward has the size and strength to battle Luka, and he rated as the third-best defender on Golden State’s roster during the regular season behind only Draymond Green and the injured Gary Payton II per FiveThirtyEight’s defensive RAPTOR.
Golden State will use Otto Porter Jr. on Luka Doncic if he is healthy. It is another player with length and strength to throw at the 23-year-old to try to slow him down.
Ranking mismatches for Luka Doncic and Mavericks to hunt vs. Warriors: 8. Andre Iguodala
Iguodala has been ruled out for Game 1, and he has not played since April 24 because of a neck injury. Can the veteran get healthy and play a role off the bench in this series? That is an unanswerable question at this moment.
A healthy Iguodala can use his veteran savvy, strength, and footwork to make Luka work. That is the part of the list we’ve reached already. Golden State will be looking for anyone that can make getting wherever Doncic wants on the floor tough in this series.
