Thing Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic needs to work on this offseason: 3. Free throws

Luka’s free-throw shooting has been an issue since his rookie season. The 23-year-old made 74.4 percent this year, which was slightly above his career average of 73.7 percent. He has improved from his first NBA season, but there is plenty of room for growth.

In his final two seasons with Real Madrid combined, Doncic made 79.5 percent of his 528 free throw attempts. He takes approximately 500 tries in one NBA season, but there is no reason why he cannot make 80 percent from the foul line.

Luka turned it on in the playoffs as he connected on 77.0 percent of his 135 attempts. He needs to focus and limiting his workload slightly would help Doncic have more energy to convert his freebies. Remember, they are only free if the player makes them, and Luka is capable of sinking four out of five.

Above all, Luka Doncic wants to win. He knows that free throws often decide games, so expect the 23-year-old superstar to take a ton of free throws this summer. Even the slightest improvement results in a lot more points for Luka and the Dallas Mavericks, and it is something fans should be watching next season.
