The Dallas Mavericks finally broke through with superstar Luka Doncic leading their charge. He was first-team All-NBA each of the last two years, but the Mavs were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs twice. Dallas finally finished the regular season in the top four in the West, and they won their first playoff series since bringing back the title in 2011.
The Mavericks were not done there, though. They upset the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the second round as Doncic made his case to be the league’s best player. It was an incredible run that ended in the conference finals as Dallas was just not quite ready to take down the Warriors, who reached their sixth NBA Finals in eight years.
