Will Kyrie Irving run Luka Doncic off of the Dallas Mavericks?

Dallas Mavericks won’t have assets to land Luka Doncic a co-star if Kyrie Irving leaves in free agency
The Mavs owe their 2023 first-round pick to the New York Knicks from the original Kristaps Porzingis trade with a top-ten protection. Assuming the selection conveys this summer, Dallas will have two first-round picks to deal, with but just one second-round selection.
If Kyrie Irving decides to join a team with cap space, the Mavericks would get zero in return. A sign-and-trade would be the only way to get him to Phoenix to reunite with Kevin Durant, but the Lakers could create the room to sign him to a massive contract. If Kyrie wants to play with LeBron, the Mavs could lose him and get nothing back.
If the 30-year-old leaves in free agency, Dallas won’t have the assets to land a co-star. Is that the next domino in forcing Luka to look elsewhere to win a championship? He wants to win it all, and that will be extremely difficult to do without a second star flanking the Slovenian.
Luka Doncic is not married to Kyrie Irving yet. He would be open to playing with another star player because winning a championship is what matters most. That is the key to keeping him in Dallas long-term.
