The Dallas Mavericks brought back Dirk Nowitzki as a special advisor to owner Mark Cuban this offseason. The franchise’s GOAT had a hand in selecting the team’s new head coach and general manager, and he was part of the traveling party that headed to Slovenia to offer Luka Doncic his historic contract extension. It was a busy summer for Dirk, but a massive season could be ahead.

Cuban has talked about figuring out a game that works to do Nowitzki’s jersey’s retirement and statue unveiling. It will be a can-not-miss night for fans and another opportunity to honor one of the NBA’s all-time greats. Supporters may want to bring some tissues because if it is anything like his final home game, it will be an emotional night.

Nowitzki received another massive honor on Oct. 12 when it was announced that he will be one of five legends that will serve as ambassadors for the NBA’s 75th anniversary season. Here is a closer look at the honor.

Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki will serve as ambassador for NBA’s 75th season

Dirk was already part of the NBA Lane short film to celebrate the historic season where he learned some new moves from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Nowitzki is the most recent player as part of the league’s five ambassadors for the 75th anniversary campaign where he is joined by Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Oscar Robertson, and Bob Petit. The league’s press release notes they will make appearances throughout the season and have a special role in the 2022 NBA All-Star weekend from Feb. 18 to 20.

Dallas Mavericks fans will get to see more Dirk Nowitzki this season. He figures to be at plenty of the team’s games, and he will be all over as he helps the league celebrate the 75th anniversary season. Supporters should be excited to see what the NBA has in store for Dirk this year because it is certain to be something special.
