2022 NBA Draft will be a franchise-altering night even if Dallas Mavericks are quiet

Thursday will be a franchise shifting night for multiple teams. Think back to 2018 when the Mavericks traded up to draft Luka Doncic and picked Jalen Brunson in the second round. They almost immediately when from rebuilding to playoff hopeful. Four seasons later, the Mavs are trying to contend for the championship.

The Magic, Thunder, and Rockets are all hoping to have a similar fate with the top three picks. Missing on a top selection can set a team back for years, so all three franchises will have key decisions to make on June 23.

Some organization will get the steal of the draft in the late lottery. Think about the Utah Jazz or Phoenix Suns selecting Donovan Mitchell and Devin Booker at 13th overall. The second round will have a few gems like Nikola Jokic, Khris Middleton, or Brunson. What teams land those key pieces? Tune in to the draft to find out who goes where.

Most likely, it is a quiet night for the Dallas Mavericks. They may acquire a second-round pick or get involved in a minor trade, but do not expect a monster move from the Mavs. The front office already added Christian Wood, and they are eager to see how he fits.
