With the Minnesota Timberwolves' Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets last night, the Dallas Mavericks' official opponent for the Western Conference Finals is the Timberwolves.

Dallas secured a spot in the Western Conference Finals with a big Game 6 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night, and now Luka Doncic has some extra time to nurse his nagging injuries before battling Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.

Right after Minnesota's Game 7 win last night, Edwards was asked about his initial thoughts about playing the Mavericks, and he immediately said that he'll be guarding Kyrie Irving. Edwards' confidence is always shining bright, and this will be a great series between two future faces of the NBA with Doncic and Edwards.

Vince Carter seriously doubts Mavericks' chances against Timberwolves

While the Mavs are rolling and the chemistry between Doncic and Irving continues to grow, they already have their fair share of doubters for their chances in the Western Conference Finals. Dallas has been proving doubters wrong all season long, and that'll be the case if they beat the Timberwolves.

The entire "Inside the NBA" crew on TNT picked the Timberwolves to beat the Mavericks, and former Mavs shooting guard and NBA Hall of Famer Vince Carter even picked the Timberwolves to beat Dallas.

Carter complimented Minnesota's defense and said "they can handle the offense of Dallas." He also talked about how key offensive rebounding could be for the Mavs, specifically touching on Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford's potential impacts.

With Minnesota being such a big team, the Mavs are going to have their hands full down low as they'll be facing Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. Maxi Kleber being out at least for the beginning of this series and potentially the entire series could end up hurting the Mavs, and everyone, including a former Dallas fan favorite and NBA legend Vince Carter, seems to seriously doubt Dallas' chances.

No one seems to give Doncic, Irving, and the Mavs the respect they deserve after defeating the No. 1 seeded Thunder in six games, and only time will tell if Carter will regret his decision to pick against a team he played three seasons for in the Mavericks.

For all the latest on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks throughout their Western Conference Finals matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, stay tuned.
