Trade that allows Dallas Mavericks to upgrade at center: 1. Acquire Turner
The Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis pairing has been talked about around the league since the duo formed in 2016. They have helped the Pacers reach the playoffs four times, but they missed last season. Now, long-time Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is in charge, and this could be the final chance for the pairing to shine.
Will Carlisle want to trade away Turner by the deadline? Sending him to Dallas would be a deal with a lot of layers.
Carlisle has long held an affinity for Powell’s on-court game. He could take the chance to acquire him, 2020 first-round pick Josh Green and three additional draft choices for Turner. Coach Carlisle has softened his stance on playing rookies in recent years, and the Pacers are a talented team, but the pieces may just not fit.
Myles Turner is from Texas and often works out in Dallas during the offseason. He has an improving jumper and remains one of the league’s best rim protectors. The 25-year-old is just entering his prime and is under contract for $18 million next season.
The Dallas Mavericks would love to upgrade at their center position, but can they find a deal that works? It is one of the many things to watch this season. Expect plenty of rumors to be flying around before the deadline, so stay tuned.
