Trade Dallas Mavericks should consider before the deadline: 1. Snag LaVine
There have been no shortage of Zach LaVine trade rumors coming out of Chicago this season. The Bulls have won two straight and seven of their last ten to move to ninth in the Eastern Conference, but there is still no guarantee that they make the playoffs. Will they decide to blow up their roster before the Feb. 9 deadline?
The Mavericks have linked to LaVine, and here is a deal that sends him to Dallas.
LaVine cannot be traded until Jan. 15, and the cost is still a question mark. He signed a five-year $215 million max contract in the offseason. Knee issues aside, the Mavericks could have an All-Star backcourt duo locked in for the foreseeable future. LaVine’s speed gives Dallas a different look, and the duo could form one of the best offensive punches in the NBA.
There are questions about LaVine’s defense and health, but he could be an available second star at a reasonable price. Dallas would still have a first-round pick to trade this summer to further upgrade their roster around their All-Star duo. They would likely be searching for a 3-and-D wing to help solidify on the defensive end.
Will the Dallas Mavericks make a massive splash before the Feb. 9 trade deadline? They are making calls and trying to work out deals. Stay tuned to see what the Mavs can pull off.
